James Durning died August 21, 2012 in Select Speciality Hospital in Rochelle Park. He was 83. Born in Glasgow, Scotland he has lived in Kearny the past 52 years.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive Kearny (map/directions). Mass Friday 10 am in St. Cecilia's Church (map/directions). Private cremation will follow.
Jim served in The Royal Airforce and is a retired carpenter from Essex County Carpenters Local 1342. He is a Gold Card Member of The Irish American and Scottish American Clubs where he was active with the Golf and Shuffle Board teams. He was also a celtic supporter.
Husband of the late Lily (nee McKinnon), he is survived by his children and their spouses Diane and Mike Gray, Elaine and John Fleck, Anne Marie and Jerry Coppola and Jim and Nancy Durning, his sisters Peggy Alessi and Katie Duffy and his grandchildren Andrew, Lindsay, Matthew, Carly, Haley, Adam, Julia and Lily. Also surviving is his dear friend Betty.
