Dick Downin

Dick David Downin, 90, a resident of Woodland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Orbisonia, PA and formerly of Hare’s Valley, Mapleton Depot, PA passed away peacefully at 5:10 AM, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Woodland.

Born October 18, 1925 at McConnellsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Alvin and Pearl (Miller) Downin.  He was married to Lorna E. McConaughey on May 5, 1949.  Mrs. Downin preceded in death on March 6, 2014.

Mr. Downin is survived by a daughter Bonnell Zinn and husband John, Newville, PA and a son Darrell Downin and wife Paula, Mapleton Depot, PA.

There are three grandchildren, Justin and Tanya Zinn and Colton Downin along with two great grandchildren, Justin and Shannein.

A sister Sarah Hamm is deceased.

Mr. Downin retired in 1990 from Avtex Fibers, Lewistown, PA.

He was an avid hunter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, PA with Pastor Jonathan Whitsel officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
