John F. Didyk, 82, formerly of Todd, PA, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville, PA.

Born October 15, 1933 in Todd Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, he was a son of the late John & Mary (Hunia) Didyk. He was married to the former Dorothy Mae Boryschuck on April 4, 1959 at Bloomfield, NJ. Mrs. Didyk preceded in death on August 9, 1998.

Surviving are one son, John Daniel Didyk, one grandson, John Z. Didyk and one sister Mary Didyk  all of RD, Todd, PA and his companion, Mary Gladfelter of Huntingdon, PA. Four brothers, Paul, Tony, Joseph and Jacob Didyk and two sisters, Susan Stapleton and Annie Didyk, preceded in death.

Mr. Didyk was a member of the Beavertown Church of God, RD, Todd, PA. He was a graduate of the former Robertsdale High School. He was also a member of the Trough Creek Valley Lions Club and the Broad Top Old Timer’s Baseball Club, having been inducted into their Hall Of Fame in 2013 and had played in their annual Old Timer’s baseball game for over 20 years. He also managed little league baseball in New Jersey for many years and was honored with many trophies.

Mr. Didyk belonged to a theater company in New Jersey and played in the Broadway play Oklahoma. He played the roll of stagehand, policeman and sang “Oh What A Beautiful Morning”. His hobbies were gardening and he was also an avid hunter.

During his life he was employed by Westinghouse, Inc., Bloomfield, NJ, later becoming A T & T, retiring after 35 years service. He also worked part time at the Newark Airport as a baggage handler and the Merleu Detective Agency in New Jersey.

Mr. Didyk was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served from February 3, 1955 until February 1, 1957. He was discharged as an SPC 3rd class in anti aircraft artillery 1 and 2 and also received medals as a 2nd class gunner expert badge rifle M1 and M2, sharpshooter carbine M1, M2 and M3 and the Good Conduct Medal.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, 245 Seminary St., Cassville, PA with Rev. James Lynn officiating. Interment will be made at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, RD, Robertsdale, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 7 – 9 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
