Curfman, Clair Obituary

 

Clair Clifford Curfman, 82, of Cassville, PA, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2014 at The Village at Morrison's Cove, Martinsburg, PA where he had resided since January 2013.

Born February 12, 1932 in Clay Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, he was a son of the late Walter Leo & Grace Oneida (Cutshall) Curfman. He grew up on the family farm in Trough Creek Valley near the town of Todd. He was married to the former Helen Claire Crotsley on August 16, 1958. Mrs. Curfman survives at their home. They had been married for 56 years.

Also surviving are two children, Clair Leroy Curfman and wife Susan of Cassville, PA, Merri Ann Eshelman and husband Larry of Todd, PA, six grandchildren, Casey Pyne, Hattie, Erin and McKenna Curfman, Jesse Bussard and John R. Hiquet, 2 great grandchildren, Katie and Carter Pyne, the daughter and son of Casey (Curfman) Pyne and husband Guy, and three siblings, Freda Runk of RD, Broad Top, PA, Fred Curfman of Todd, PA and Walter Lee Curfman of Hustontown, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Leo Curfman and an infant sister.

Mr. Curfman served his country in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and achieved the rank of Corporal. He was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Tank and Jeep Division. He was proud of his service. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Curfman was a member of the Trough Creek Valley Community Church. He held a number of jobs over the years including farming, lumbering and working for PennDot. His long term employment was with Owens-Corning Fiberglass, Huntingdon, PA, where he worked in the tank department as an inspector, retiring at age 57 after 28 years service.
He and his wife lived on a farm near Todd, PA throughout their life and operated the farm until February 2008. He loved his family, farming and hunting.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, 245 Seminary St., Cassville, PA with Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Interment will be made at Cassville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 7 - 9 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
