Marion R. Cornelius

Marion Ross Cornelius, 71, Wye Lane, Three Springs, PA died at 7:57 PM, Friday, April 22, 2016 at his home in Cromwell Township.

Born October 9, 1944 at the family farm at Newburg, Todd Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Edgar Scott and Belle Edythe (Hess) Cornelius.  He was married to Ruth Covert on March 3, 1973.  Mrs. Cornelius survives at home.

Mr. Cornelius is survived by seven children; Dale Watkins and wife Nancy,Chambersburg, PA; Deborah K. Price and husband Joseph, Shade Gap, PA; Dianna Cowan and husband Craig, Hershey, PA; Dena Detwiler and fiancé Dennis Starliper, Chambersburg; Merle “Butch” Danfelt and wife Brenda, St. Thomas, PA; Ronda Brown and husband George, Mapleton Depot, PA; and Elona Sauders and husband Jeff, Three Springs, PA.

There are 19 grandchildren: Bethann, Ellen, Anthony and Daniel Watkins, Merle  and Barry “BJ” Snyder, Bradley Cowan, Ashley Rodichok, Justin Danfelt, Victoria “Tori” Fanucci, Becky Starliper, Jeremy Hoffman, William “Bill” Brown, Harley and Karley “KC” Brown, Nikeisha and Brittany Byers, David “DJ” Leab and Jeffrey Sauders III.

Nine great grandchildren also survive.

A sister Dorothy Park survives of Chambersburg, PA.  A brother Walter “Sonny” Cornelius, Sr. is deceased.

Mr. Cornelius was baptized at the Church of the Nazarene, Newburg, PA.  In 1961, he was a member of the first graduating class at Tussey Mountain High School, Saxton, PA.

A longtime truck driver, he retired in 2010 from Fed Ex Ground, Harrisburg, PA.  He was a member of Teamsters Local #776, Harrisburg.

He was an avid hunter and was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley Street, Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Ed Seeley officiating.  Interment will be at Three Springs Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 6—8:00 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
