Conner, Regina Obituary

 Her Journey
Regina Ann Conner

Regina Ann Conner was born to James and Mary Barnes on October 1, 1950 in Washington, DC.  She was the 9h child of 11 sisters.  She married Fred Conner and later divorced and moved on with her life.  On Thursday, April 8, 2021 Regina crossed over to be with the Lord and her nine sisters who preceded her in rest; Elsie, Delores, Mary, Eva Diane, Edith, Edna, Joyce, Elnora and Darlene.

Regina matriculated thru DC Public Schools and graduated with honors. She was big Sister and care provider to Carolyn and Brenda while her big sister Eva Diane worked and provided for the three of them.  She lovingly cooked, cleaned and took care of the daily needs.

In 1989 her sister Darlene asked if anything happened to her would Regina raise Frederick.  Upon her sister’s demise she did just that.  She has raised Frederick/aka Inchin since the age of 10.  She dedicated her life to providing, mentoring, loving and spoiling Inchin as her own son.  She also loved and cherished his lovely daughter London Darlene as her grandchild.  Regina was proud of London and she loved her with all of her heart.  She also had a niece Tiffany that she actually brought a car for so she would not have to get on the bus. Wow, that is the kind of person she was; Loing and Caring.

Regina loved to spend time with her sisters, family and friends. She loved to bid-whiz and tunk and attend crab feast, cruises, and the Sight and  Sound Theater.  Regina never let anything stop her when she made up her mind to do something.  Often when playing cards, she would get excited and you would hear her famous word “Hello” especially when she was winning.

Regina achieved her dream of working for the Federal Government and having a strong family while gainfully employed with the U.S. Department of Labor for 45 years.  Regina always ensured her work was timely, neat and reflected her best according to her co-worker Carmen Bettis.  She had many good friends and co-workers including her friend Sandra Hamlet.  Regina retired in 2017.  The apple of her career was her official retirement letter from her President for Life, the Honorable Barack Obama.

Regina was, a meticulous, methodical, jovial, funny, very neat, loving, elegant, intelligent and resilient woman with a beautiful spirit and gigantic heart. She would do anything for many people.  She impacted and believed in her family and friends.

Regina leaves to cherish her memories, her son-nephew, Frederick Barnes; granddaughter London; baby sister and best friend Carolyn Oglesby Murray and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews cousins and friends.
