Wayne E. Colyer

Wayne E. Colyer, 69, of Neelyton Road, Shade Gap, PA, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the home of his daughter, Kerri Tolbert of Hamilton Twp., Franklin Co.
    
Born September 27, 1947 at Shade Gap, PA he was a son of Charles “Whitey” Colyer of RD, Three Springs, PA and the late Dorothy (Gibson) Colyer. He was united in marriage to the former Karen S. Long on August 28, 1970 at Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Colyer survives at their home.

He is also survived by two children, Kerri Tolbert and husband Kurt of Chambersburg, PA and Brian Long of Shade Gap, PA, six grandchildren, Justin Tolbert, Kara Long, Kaitlyn Long, Brian Long, Ethan Mummert and Emma Grace Tolbert, two great grandchildren, Paytton Long and Talon Tolbert and one sister, Karen Varner and husband Dean of RD, Three Springs, PA.

Mr. Colyer was of the Methodist faith. He had served as president of the Dead Horse Camp, Locke’s Valley Road, Shade Gap, PA since 1986. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing golf and was known by many as a “professional” mushroom hunter.

He was an accomplished stone mason for his entire life, having worked for many years with his father.

Mr. Colyer was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves, serving for six years and attaining the rank of E-7.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, RD, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA 6 - 8 PM Friday.
