James A. Collins, 75, of Saltillo, PA, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his home.

Born November 18, 1942 in Clay Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, he was a son of the late David & Anna (Leckliter) Collins. He was united in marriage to the former E. Jane Erwin on October 24, 1964. Mrs. Collins survives at their home.

He is also survived by three children, Cindy Schmidt and husband Ed of Saltillo, PA, Wayne Collins and wife Tammy of Three Springs, PA and Lance Collins and wife Penny of Saltillo, PA, nine grandchildren, Randi Gates, Renee Schmidt, Robin Schmidt, Troy Schmidt, Trenton Collins, Brantley Collins, Destini Collins, Dylan Collins and Derrick Starr, six great grandchildren, Madison Gates, Mathew Gates, Caitlin Bilger, Clara McMurtrie, Levi Schmidt and Lauren Schmidt and four siblings, Phyllis McKenney of Three Springs, Charlie Collins of Artemis, PA, Donald Collins of Shirleysburg, PA and John Collins of Three Springs, PA. One brother, Albert Collins, preceded in death.

Mr. Collins was a member of the Saltillo Lions Club, the former Saltillo Rod and Gun Club, he was currently serving on the Spring Creek Joint Municipal Authority and had served a number of years on the Saltillo Borough Council.

He had been employed by the East Broad Top Railroad and by Saltillo Borough.

He enjoyed attending Southern Huntingdon County High School football games and girls softball and girls basketball games.

Mr. Collins was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. David Ford officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
