Yvonne M. Carty

Yvonne Morica Carty (Lawrence) was born to Ceclyn Hinds and Doran Lawrence on January 19, 1953 in Petersfield St. Mary, Jamaica, where she was affectionately known as Marika.  She was raised by her grandaunt Alice Shand (Aunt).  Yvonne received her formal education at Three Hills All Age School in Three Hills, St. Mary and later trained as a hairstylist and a dressmaker.  

Yvonne migrated to Canada in 1981 for a better life, where she worked as a nanny before becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. She would later become an entrepreneur, owning her own successful health food store in Toronto, Ontario for many years. Yvonne never forgot where she came from, and often travelled back to Jamaica to visit and help her family and other relatives and friends.  
 
At an early age she  accepted Christ into her life and relied on her faith to carry her through. Yvonne found it a joy to pray for others and often offered words of encouragements to others.  She enjoyed singing on the praise and worship choir at New Life Ministries International in Scarborough, Ontario Canada.

Not too much can be said about Yvonne’s kind heart, she gave so much, she would make sure her family and her friends were taken care of. She went above and beyond wherever she saw the need. Nothing was too much or too hard for her.

Yvonne loved flowers and gardening and this was evident in her beautiful gardens and the flower arrangements she worked tirelessly on. Her love for her family brought her such joy and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She pampered, and spoiled them every chance she got. She was blessed with one daughter Yvette.

She is survived by her daughter Yvette, her son-in-law Dean Pink, grandsons Jamie, Jaden, and Tristen (grandma itty bitty grandson). A host of brothers, and sisters, and other loved ones. Gone but never forgotten. She will be truly missed.
