Letitia Beatrice Carroll
March 25, 1951 - February 27, 2012
Letitia Beatrice Carroll was born March 25, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Louis Carroll and Gloria Diggs. After a brief illness, she peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 27, 2012. She was the oldest of four children and was affectionately known to family and friends as “Tish”.
Tish lived in District Heights, Maryland, but was a long time resident of Alexandria, where she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, then graduated from George Washington High School in 1969. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age, while attending Catholic school. Tish was an active, enthusiastic and faithful member of a family bible study group, led by her Aunt Phyllis.
Tish worked as a Customer Service Representative with C&P/Bell Atlantic for over 30 years where. During her tenure at Bell Atlantic, she received numerous performance awards, including a Governor’s Citation for outstanding service. She retired in 1999. Following retirement, Tish continued to work part-time for another ten years with Washington Sports Entertainment.
Upon the death of her mother, Tish became the confidant, protector and strong advocate for her family and often referred to her brother, Alfred, as her son. She loved celebrations with family and friends and never would pass up an opportunity to participate in family gathering, join in on a bid whiz card game or play Wii bowling. She had a special love for animals, including her former cat, Brandy, and her dog, Maxi. She was very, passionate, considerate and supportive towards her family and friends, and sensitive to her family’s needs and desires. She will always be cherished and remembered for her sincere love of family; wise advice and guidance and her joyous laughter that would light up the room.
Tish leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life two brothers, Gregory Carroll and Alfred Taylor; one sister, Mary Etta Carroll; three step-sisters, Dianne Keaton, Francine Carroll and Louisa Carroll; two aunts, Phyllis Bell and Mary Carroll; two uncles, Michael Alexander and Phillip Bell, Sr.; three nieces, Letta Carroll, Shalena Smith and Danisha Kilgore; one nephew, Daevon Carroll plus a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
