Brown Sr., David Obituary

David John Brown Sr. died on December 29, 2013 at the age of 62.

He was born in Freeport, New York to Albert George and Emma Mary Brown on November 28, 1951. He was the husband of 27 years to Therese Ann Forney Brown.

After graduating from High School he decided to make the big decision to leave New York and attend The Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating he realized there was no money to be made so he decided to join the Baltimore City Police Department in 1974. He worked in many departments such as: a Patrolman, STOP Squad, working wire taps, Tactical, etc., but his dream was to be a Detective.

In October, 1986 his dreams came alive. He got married, bought a home, and found out that his wife was pregnant with their first child and he became a Homicide Detective. He loved to write and this is where he worked, doing what he loved until he retired as a Homicide Detective in 2000.

David enjoyed the finer things in life. He traveled a little or dreamed of places he wanted to go. Every birthday he always treated himself either for a trip or something just for him.

He still loved art and reading books. Everyone enjoyed hearing his stories and he always had one to tell. His family was his inspiration of his tales of misfortune, happiness, and comedy. Nothing was sacred.

He also wanted to be an actor and enjoyed the theatre. He had small parts in the movies “Diner” and “Dave” and also on the television shows “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “The Corner”.

David loved motorcycles, but most of all he loved his family.

David leaves behind to remember and carry on; daughter Jessica Lauren Brown and companion Bradley Lockard; son David John Brown, Jr.; twin grandsons, Bennett and Brody Lockard; brother, Albert George Brown and his daughter, Kim Brown; brother- in-laws, Larry Lehrer, Stephen Forney and wife Barbara; sister-in-law Kathleen Gemmill and husband Craig; also very close family friends Nancy and Bill Misita and their children. David also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and close friends, probably more than he knew.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St, Westminster. Officiating will be Fr. John Lesnick.
