Ruth P. Briggs, 88, of Orbisonia, PA, died at 11:40 PM, Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Woodland Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Orbisonia, PA.


Born February 19, 1927 at Rockhill Furnace, PA, she was a daughter of the late Stephen & Ethel (Potts) Painter. She was married to Richard T. Briggs on April 5, 1953 at Trenton, NJ. Mr. Briggs preceded in death January 9, 1977.​


Surviving are two daughters, Eileen B. House and husband H. Kirk of Mechanicsburg, PA and Sue A. Briggs of Orbisonia, PA. Also surviving are two grandsons, Kyle D. DiRaddo and Troy R. DiRaddo, one step granddaughter, Heather L. House and one brother, James L. Painter and wife Nancy of Glenside, PA. Two brothers, Robert Painter and Enver “Tag” Painter, preceded in death.​


Mrs. Briggs was of the Protestant faith. She retired as a secretary from the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Orbisonia, PA. Prior to that she had been employed as a secretary at the Southern Huntingdon County Medical Center, Orbisonia, PA, the Rockhill Elementary School and at the former Orbisonia High School.


​Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Orbisonia Cemetery with Rev. Myrtle McCall officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation.


​In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 18889 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA 17243 or to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.


​Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA.
