Bond, Bernard Obituary

Bernard Sylvester Bond departed this life on October 25, 2012, at the Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Bernard Sylvester Bond was born May 8, 1951 in Washington, D.C., to the Late Sylvester and Rosalee Bond.  He is the oldest of six siblings; Valerie, Judy, Constance, Andrew and Sandora (Deceased).  Bernard was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and a graduate of Ballou Sr. High School.  After finishing High School, he was employed by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in the Print and Book Binding Division.

Bernard has one son, Bernard Coran Bond and one daughter, Sharron Bond and one grandson Airique Bond.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in his life at the age of 12, at the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, in N.W., D.C.  After moving to S.E., D.C., as a young adult he joined the New Life Christian Outreach Ministries International and help spread the gospel from community to community and was often seen on street corners witnessing about the Lord and encouraging those he came in contact with.  During his adult life he continued his Christian fellowship with the New Image Community Baptist Church in S.E, D.C., and was a member of the Gospel Chorus.  After a lengthy illness, his residence changed to the Deanwood Rehabilitation Center, in D.C.  While living at this center he joined the Ark of Safety Christian Church, located in Upper Marlboro, MD, under the leadership of Bishop C. Anthony Muse.

Bernard loved God, his family and friends.  He loved reading books, writing poems and singing.  He leaves to cherish his memories, 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 grandson, 3 sisters and 1 brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends of Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Detroit, Michigan.

We love you Bernard and will miss your soft spirit, but good memories will be with us and we know we will see you again.  Praise the Lord!
