Mary E. Barnes

Mary E. Barnes, age 106, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away April 20, 2012, at Spring Hill Hospital.  

She was born in Newfoundland, Canada, living in Florida for the last 15 years coming from Brick and Roselle Park, NJ.  She came to the United States as a nanny and was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, cooking, and raising her wonderful children and grandchildren.  She was a true Christian woman and a long time member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Brick.  She was also a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Atlas Chapter in Westfield, NJ.

She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Arthur, her son-in-law Louis Bernard, Jr., and all ten of her siblings.  Survivors include her son, Albert F. (Betty Lou), daughter, Shiley E. Bernard, grandson David (Carol) Barnes,  granddaughters Marcella (Richard) Brewster, Tracey White, Lori (David) White, and ten great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with an Eastern Star service at 3 pm, at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford (map/directions).  Funeral services will be 10 am  Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park (map/directions).
